Welcome to the Cheviot School of Motoring My name is Bob Clark, I qualified as a Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Approved Driving Instructor in 1977, also passing the stringent examination to become a Royal Automobile Club Qualified Driving Instructor. I have also passed the driving tests set by the Institute of Advanced Motorists, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Advanced Drivers Association, obtaining a Grade One pass, and I am registered with the Driving Standards Agency to provide Pass Plus training. I also comply with the DSA's Code of Practice for Driving Instructors, which is your guarantee of high professional standards and business ethics. As you can see from the above I have many years experience in the driver training profession, combined with regular attendance at Continual Professional Development seminars, which enables me to teach you the correct driving skills, according to the DSA's syllabus, to help you become a safe and competant driver. Before you can start your driving lessons you have to hold a Provisional Driving Licence which you must take with you on your first driving lesson. You should allow three weeks for your licence to arrive after applying although it could be longer if the DVLA have to check your health or personal details. Apply for a Provisional Driving Licence. Some frequently asked questions: What is your pass rate? In 2011 70% of my pupils passed their practical test first time, national average 43%, and all pupils who used my online theory training passed their theory test first time. How many lessons will I need? It depends on your aptitude, frequency of lessons, your age and if you will be getting driving practice with a relative or friend. How soon can I sit my test? I keep detailed records and will be happy to discuss your progress at any time. When can I start my lessons? Usually within a week, but if you want to start on a specific date, for instance a birthday, it's probably best to book two or three weeks in advance. Can I start my lessons from home? You can start and finish your lessons from anywhere in South Tyneside. Pupils often start their lsson from South Tyneside College and finish at home. What do I wear for my driving lessons and test? Anything you like but not dirty work clothes and 'sensible shoes' please, not work boots or high heels. It's best to wear shoes that allow you to feel the pedals. Will you be using your mobile phone during my driving lesson? No, my phone will be switched off and I hope yours will be too! For useful links go to the Contacts page.
